Food Supplement

What is a food supplement?

These are “Foodstuffs aimed at supplementing the normal diet and comprising a concentrated source of nutrients or other substances with a nutritional or physiological effect, either singly or combined, and marketed in dose form [...]” (capsules, lozenges, tablets, pills, liquid ampoules, etc.).

The aim of the food supplement is therefore to supplement a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

Legislation surrounding the marketing of food supplements guarantees their safety: obligation to ensure traceability, obligation to declare formulations to the DGCCRF (French General Directorate for Fair Trading, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control), obligation to label all ingredients, obligation to provide instructions for use (…).
